“Working with Kim really increased our joy and confidence with our son. She gave us successful ideas on how to progress with our son and he has improved markedly. We are only sad that as we have moved we cannot continue with her.”

“Thank you so much for your work with John. He has loved all the sessions, and has been very excited to have his “Kim time”. Each session has felt like fun for him, you have made it so enjoyable for him, so it has never felt like work.
The work you have done with John has transformed his life! When we first met you I had to translate what John said for other adults, he got teased at school and he couldn’t pronounce his own name. He is now able to express himself well, has an amazing vocabulary and chatting to him is so much easier.”
Thank you so much!

“Kim has been amazing! When our son arrived in her therapy room, following 2 years of ineffectual therapy else where, he was shy and withdrawn unable to be understood. Right from the initial appointment Sebastian was put at ease and a full assessment was made to diagnose correctly a speech disorder. Once correctly diagnosed intensive therapy started in a fun and encouraging environment. He has now turned into a confident, outgoing and talkative boy with the world ahead of him. We will always be grateful for Kim’s care and expertise.”

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all you have done for Will. When we first came, I was not sure speech therapy would work as he was so young but you have motivated and coached him to the extent that he has gone from “babble” to intelligent conversation (about herbivores and omnivores this morning!) in less than a year…amazing! You inspire him to want to pronounce sounds correctly but in such a positive way that he actively looks forward to coming to see you. You are unbelievably gifted at what you do and we are so grateful for your help.”

“Apart from correcting what seemed at the time a major impediment in our son’s speech, Kim was instrumental in bringing out a confidence in him that we never knew he had. As parents, we also learnt a great deal from Kim about how to aid the process and what seemed like a stressful trudge ahead at the outset converted into a wonderful journey from which our family benefitted tremendously while having fun at the same time. We can comfortably say that, with Kim’s help, our communication as a family improved massively and we are all the happier for it!”

Bronwyn and I will never forget the great role you played in Daniel’s speech improvement and general confidence – things we could never have accomplished on our own.
Mary and I took our daughter to see Kim because she had a stammer… several years later we are still using some of Kim’s strategies because they are so effective.
Kim not only looked at the stammering but asked about our family life. This made us realise how our behaviour was affecting Katie and therefore her stammer. As a consequence we adjusted our behaviour and with Kim’s skilful treatment sessions Katie’s speech has improved.
In fact even several years later we are still using some of Kim’s strategies because they are so effective. Kim also explained about stammering to Katie’s school teachers and liaised with them regarding the school work Katie was being set and the level they expected her to achieve. Mary and I could not have asked for more support, help and advice from a professional, caring and knowledgeable therapist as Kim Antonia.

Those who didn’t know Tommy years ago struggle to appreciate or understand that he once was a Boy that couldn’t talk.
We first started working with Kim about 8 years ago, when our first son (Tommy) had been diagnosed as being on the Autistic Spectrum and his absence of any speech or communication were significantly impacting his development and social skills. It is fair to say that we were lost sheep and Kim came to our rescue. With frequent one to one sessions, Kim taught Tommy (and us) how to overcome the hurdles that he was faced with and through various methods (such as signing, picture cards and eventually words) progress was made. Eight years later, we now have a son who can fluently communicate with his peers, is excelling at English and wants to become an author! Those who didn’t know Tommy years ago struggle to appreciate or understand that he once was a Boy that couldn’t talk. However, the story doesn’t end there from our perspective. Tommy has a brother, Alfie, 7 years younger and faced with similar challenges in regards to Speech & Communication. Our experience with our first son and the continued help and support from Kim has seen Alfie overcome these challenges and well on the road to recovery.

Kim’s patience and enthusiasm with Jacques enabled him to keep a high level of self-esteem and confidence, which has led to him excelling at school academically and socially… I would recommend Kim to any parent considering a speech therapist for their child.
Kim began speech therapy with my son when he was in nursery. Jacques suffered from unclear pronunciation of words and sentences, combined with concentration and listening problems. He had a delay of about a year with his understanding and expressive language. Kim saw Jacques both at school and at her private clinic, keeping close contact with the teachers and myself. Jacques had a very good relationship with Kim and would look forward to seeing her. She would maintain his concentration with the use of fun, imaginative games and visually stimulating learning tools, as well as the use of small groups at school. Kim included me in his therapy and gave me close instruction as to how to help him; this was imperative to optimise his therapy. Her patience and enthusiasm with Jacques enabled him to keep a high level of self-esteem and confidence, which has led to him excelling at school academically and socially.

“Kim is incredibly warm and energetic… Working with her is a real partnership of trying to figure out how best to help your child, and being ready to change tack along the way if necessary. I couldn’t recommend her more highly!”
Our son had severe speech and language difficulties when we started to see Kim, six years ago. He was just turning four and, although we could understand him, very few other adults could understand a word of what he said. He didn’t find it easy to fit in at school and was a very shy and frustrated little boy. By the time Kim discharged him earlier this year though, he was not only speaking perfectly but had also blossomed into a confident boy who takes on roles in school plays and is singing in his school band!
I think what really impressed us about Kim’s therapy is her attention to how our son was responding and her willingness to constantly change the pace or invent new games that would capture his imagination or suit his interests at the time. She has a huge range of techniques at her disposal, and a great sense of what might work at which time. This really kept us all going through what was a long process and meant that Art was always very happy to come and see Kim, despite the fact that he had to work hard and over a long period. Kim was also good at explaining to Art what we were doing, so that he felt involved and in control. She always praised his progress along the way and gave him a sense of how far he had come.

During his time with Kim, our son’s performance at school improved significantly, specifically in reading, maths and creative writing.
Kim worked with our son for 2 years during which time he developed strategies and techniques, which helped him to structure his ideas. This helped improve his memory for words, ideas and concepts and so supported a significant improvement in his processing, learning and reading skills.
During his time with Kim, our son’s performance at school improved significantly, specifically in reading, maths and creative writing. A lot of this improvement was due to the techniques he had developed through the learning support from Kim.
Kim combines a wonderful ability to focus children at the same time as allowing them to enjoy learning, mixing fun with work.
